The 5 Best Shows of Summer 2018

In the era of peak T.V., it is to feel lost in the deluge of new and returning shows. Whether it’s basic cable, premium channels, or streaming services: great television and greater stories are everywhere. I considered making this list double, and even triple, its final length, but I’ll keep it short. These are the five summer television shows you must absolutely see before the … Continue reading The 5 Best Shows of Summer 2018

Who Had the Best Performance at the 2018 VMAs?

The VMAs were especially lackluster this year, but there were still some memorable moments. Here are the best performances of the night:   14. Juice WRLD, “Lucid Dreams” This was kind of awful. Like, really awful. He sounded like drugged, angry toddler.   13. Bazzi, “Beautiful” Bazzi, who performed his breakout single, “Mine,” at the red-carpet pre-show, delivered a short performance of “Beautiful.” The backing track … Continue reading Who Had the Best Performance at the 2018 VMAs?

Movie Review: ‘Sorry to Bother You,’ but This Film Is Kind of Incredible

Boots Riley’s rambunctious and otherworldly film, Sorry To Bother You is succinct, poignant, and brash. The film stars Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson, two actors who are well versed in the film’s niche crossover-genre of afro-futuristic comedic social commentary. In addition, Thompson’s most recent … Continue reading Movie Review: ‘Sorry to Bother You,’ but This Film Is Kind of Incredible

Movie Review: ‘Ocean’s 8’

Ocean’s 8 is the perfect summer movie. Given the cast (Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina) and the iconic franchise (this is an all-female remake of the original in which George Clooney starred), this movie had no choice but to be enjoyable at the very least. *Mild spoilers ahead* The plot is fun: Danny Ocean’s estranged sister, … Continue reading Movie Review: ‘Ocean’s 8’

Every Performance at the BBMAs Ranked!

Last night, the 2018 Billboard Music Awards took place. As usual, it was an unnecessarily long awards show where more lackluster performances were showcased than awards given out. I still believe that the Billboard Music Awards are the single most pointless awards ceremony; it’s just three laborious hours of shameless promotion for Billboard, Pepsi, and friends. Regardless, here is a ranking of the night’s strongest … Continue reading Every Performance at the BBMAs Ranked!
